Release Notes - Enhanced Point Cloud
Updated at February 16th, 2024
Enhancing like it's hot
When annotating or reviewing 3D Point Clouds, accuracy is key. This release provides a way to display additional point cloud detail in the workspace.
High-accuracy 3D annotations often require seemingly repeated work. Each shape can subtly change as the frames progress. The Enhanced Point Cloud feature simplifies this, displaying all accumulated frames simultaneously.

How it works
The Enhanced Point Cloud feature works by allowing a variable number of past and future frame points to be displayed alongside the current frame. This provides a significant increase to object accuracy in comparison to standard single-frame point cloud. By providing combined frame information, the shapes being placed in the workspace can be placed more confidently, as the object will generally have more available detail, even without referencing 2D assets.
Configuring the settings
Part of what makes Enhanced Point Cloud so useful is its flexibility. This feature allows full control over which points are displayed. After clicking on the “Enhanced Point Cloud” button in the workspace, you'll be presented with the basic feature settings.
From there, click on “Advanced Settings”, which expands the menu and shows the full settings for this feature.

- This toggle enables or disables the Enhanced Point Cloud functionality. You can also click the “H” key to toggle the feature.
- This toggle enables Focus mode, which will focus the Enhanced Point Cloud at the camera location.
- This bar allows you to control the radius of the camera focus. A larger number represents a larger radius.
- The Advanced Settings button expands the available options for this feature.
- The Point cloud density slider allows you to set the overall density of the points. If the number of points is affecting clarity or system performance, reducing performance can be a huge benefit.
- The “Frames accumulated” function allows you to set where the simultaneous frames are pulled from, either Past, Future, or Both.
- The “Number of frames accumulated” allows you to set the number of frames in the selected direction(s) that will be displayed in the workspace.
